Outreach

At Safeharbor, a huge part of our mission is to unleash the grace given to us through Jesus with words and actions, serving in the church, the community, and around the world. Together as a church, there are three outreach areas we focus on, and they include:

ESOL

English for Speakers of Other Languages, otherwise known as ESOL, is a 9-week-long English class for speakers of any language located at Safeharbor Christian Church. This class is open to everyone, it’s free, and is taught twice a year – during a fall and winter semester.

We also have a class called English Speakers Speaking Spanish, also known as ESSS, where English speakers can attend a free 9-week class to learn Spanish. This class is normally held during the summertime.

We are always searching for volunteers to teach and assist teachers during these classes. If this is an area you’d like to serve, e-mail esol@safeharbor-church.org.

One Hope (Florida & Brazil)

Drop off donations on Sundays, 8:30am-12pm

The purpose of One Hope is to bless the people in it’s community and to tell them about Christ and show His love to them through the ministry. It was started by missionary Angeley Wenner in Brazil and by her parents, Dave and Susan Wenner, in Central Florida.

Both branches of One Hope fill pull string bags, also know as Blessing Bags, with hygiene products, food, a Bible, flip flops and churches’ information.

You can support One Hope financially by designating donations at Safeharbor Christian Church to One Hope (both in church and through online giving – see GIVE tab), donate items for the bags and drop them off at Safeharbor, and of course by keeping the ministry in your prayers.

Items to donate include: travel size shampoo and conditioner, body soap, deodorant, combs/brushes, toothpaste and toothbrushes and flip flops.

Our Community

In 2017, Safeharbor’s goal support and build relations with our immediate community – those located on Upsala and Vihlen Road in Sanford. We’re currently exploring different ways of doing this including looking into partnering with a local school to possibly provide tutoring and other resources to support it’s children. Stay tuned for a growing list of ways to serve our local community!
