Congregational Meeting Follow-Up

Sunday, August 16, 2020 there was a congregational meeting led by the elders and staff to update the congregation on the status of Safeharbor. Here are the topics that were covered:

  1. Safeharbor Financial Status: Since the beginning of the pandemic giving has been down significantly but one of the main points that was brought out is that we as a church have been able to weather the storm. Safeharbor has plenty of reserves in place due to the foresight of the finance team, prior leadership and more importantly, God’s abundant grace!
  2. New Roof: Elder Nate Shapley brought to our attention that in June there was a serious hail storm that severely damage the roof over the sanctuary and fellowship hall with both being the original roof which has approached it end of life. Our insurance deductible is around $30,000.
  3. Sacrificial Giving: Each family consider giving an additional offering, over and above your consistent, sacrificial giving (a tithe, or 10%, for many of us). As we’ve come to learn here at Safeharbor, there is more than enough, and growing in generosity is a marker of gospel-maturity.
  4. Church Engagement Plan: At this time many people are feeling disconnected from each other because they do feel comfortable returning to church and many small groups are not meeting. At this time the elders and staff are carefully seeking God’s guidance in prayer to find a way for the church to be engaged in spite of the challenges. The elders are asking everyone to join in to pray with them concerning this.
